This is actually a fairly simple project, overall. It just has lots of parts, which makes it complicated for me, relative to what I’ve built before.

I most enjoy building small boxes, so this is right up my alley. I ordered the plans from Woodsmith, paying around $15. I’m building two at one time; one for my wife and one for my mom.

Lumber was a 12’ x 7” 6/4 plank of padauk. It’s just enough with a tiny piece left over.

So far I’ve faced, planned, ripped, and resawn the lumber to rough dimensions. I’ll let it sit for a few days and then mill to final dimensions.

I’m cutting all the pieces at once to ensure common face items are all the same length.
