I went to Home Depot this morning and bought a 3X18 Ridgid belt sander. It was the cheapest place I had found them, for $100. Brought it home, took it out of the box, and it was covered with saw dust. The dust bag was about half full. I decided that while I had it I might as well see how I liked it before I took it back to exchange for a new one. Used it awhile, loved it. So then I decided to call Home Depot. They said it never should have been back on the shelf and should have been sold on the discount table. I asked about just getting the discount over the phone, cause I’m a ways out of town and didn’t really want to drive back anytime soon. After some experimentation with their computer system they realized that was not possible. So the next best thing was to refund the entire amount and let me keep the sander. How bout that for a compromise?

Same here, My luck would be more of them claiming ignorance with no records of it being used.

It’s good to hear that some folks still have common sense. Probably a great solution for both parties.

Man, you couldn’t ask for more than that.
I once bought a Bosch router table from Home Depot that obviously had been returned. I took it back and they apologized profusely, but didn’t offer a discount and didn’t have another one to sell me, so I got a refund and went and bought one at the next nearest store. I would’ve rather had your deal!
