no previous part Part 1 of Rocking Horse series Part 2: A Man With Some Plans! »

Hi, Folks,
The last time I posted here was waaaay back in February. The woodworking section of the handsawgeek shop has lain idle except for a simple knock-around project or repair here and there. Shop time has been largely devoted to my other hobby, model rocketry.

But, now, things are about to change.

In a previous distant post, I mentioned that there was another grand-kiddo on the way.

This happened back in late March.

The little tyke is now over six months old, and it’s high time to get started on the rocking horse build that I have been envisioning.

As slow as I go in building things, I figure it should be done about the time he is ready to use it. Next Spring, perhaps.

Also, this project still has to share shop time with some model rocket builds along the way.

Anyway, here is the rocking horse that will be the subject of this build series:

I’ve had this copy of Wood magazine since 1995, and I’ve always admired this horse. It just has a nice overall attractive look to it.

Cherry, Maple, and Walnut, with some leather embellishments.

The accompanying build how-to article is all about power tools, but this baby is destined to be built completely with hand tools.

I hope you will follow along with this series. Should be fun.
