Location: Gabriola Island, British Columbia, Canada

Longtime wood torturer, still have all my digits and wish I was retired so I could endanger them more often. Have lifetime projects like building/renovating my house which get set aside for new stuff that Elly considers more pressing, like our 50' x 80' fenced and net roofed (deer & tribes of roving feral turkeys) garden. Finally got the Unisaw ($150, on the island!) that I've been lusting after my whole adult life (well, the first 63 years, at least). It joins an old 12" Craftsman Commercial radial arm saw from the 70's, an early Delta shaper I substantially restored, an unusual high speed Craftsman drill press, Ryobi and Delta thickness planers, a Ryobi jointer and Makita power mitre box (simple and accurate after all these years and much abuse), and other Makita power hand tools from the 70's acquired when I framed houses for other people, while mine waited... and waited... I'm part way through on Red Oak trim (my own simple profiles) and have ripped up the carpets for bamboo flooring, also on the staircases, making nosing out of the bamboo - it's all good fun.

Thanks to all for the welcome! Come the weekend I’ll have the time to work on the profile and further explore the site(s). Already have appreciated the discussion on retrofit riving knives for my recently acquired old Unisaw.
