compass rose ceiling detail #5: Making the ceiling trim and adding lights.

This ceiling trim is also Sepele. We use the original template we made at the beginning to get the inside cut on the pin router.

Then we make a jig and attach it to the jig saw to get the outside radius.

There are two screws on the inside of the fence. The trick is to keep both screws touching the inside radius while the blade cuts the outside radius, harder to do than it sounds.

Once the inside and outside radius is cut we sand it smooth and route the same profile on both sides.


Next we use detachable clips for the trim. These clips will hold the trim in place after we install the unit.

Next everything gets a clear coat.

Now that everything has a finish on it we add the blocking for the LED lights.

Using the fork lift, we lift it 10 feet in the air and turn on the lights to see what it looks like.

Next part will be the install of this project.
