I am building a workbench for making furniture. The base is red oak, the top I bought is laminated ash. Yetserday was an exciting day! I got the base assembled, put on the vise and set the top in place and bolted it down.

the big pieces of oak on the bench are going to jaws for an end vise to come.

It’s been fun so far! Just don’t look too closely at my joinery—I’m just getting started!

looks fantastic! this is one of those rare occasions where I actually find red oak pleasing to the eye.
