My wife and I attended the Woodworking Show last week in Schaumburg-I did stop at the LJ table to say hello.
While at the show I visited the Fox Valley Woodworkers and DuPage Woodworkers tables. They had a group of very friendly members, and some very nice works on display. Had seen both these clubs at previous woodworking shows, but never really looked into the groups.
Since I really enjoy the discussions here on the site, thought it was time to stop being the “lonely woodworker” and take part in local community groups who love the same hobby/avocation/business that I do.
So I”m now a new member of both clubs and looking forward to meeting current members
Any of you on LJ here that are members of these clubs-please say hi. I”ll see you at the next meetings in Jan.
Any members of these clubs who are turners? I need expert advice, and want to be introduced to turning.

Welcome, Gerry. I am the Resource Director (read “librarian”) for FVWWC and I also head the ShopSmith SIG. I look forward to meeting you and your wife at one of the meetings. Unfortunately, I have to miss the January meeting because I’ll be out of town, but we will definitely get together. I think you will find the club a wealth of ideas and friendly folks. You’ll also find a lot of cross-over. One of the ShopSmith SIG members is the president of the DuPage club. Between those two clubs and Lumberjocks, I think you’ll be amazed at how much you can learn and how much fun you’ll have. See you soon.
