I stumbled across Goby Walnut Products about 2 years ago searching for live edge wood slabs. Here is a link:

They specialize in large wood slabs, especially walnut and maple, with occasional myrtle, redwood, etc slabs. But their real value to me is they sell the short ends from their slabs by the pound ($1.25/# approx).

So sorting through the boxes of walnut and maple shorts I can make projects for less money. There is a cost from waste.

They also have speciality wood boards, way out of my price range. But beautiful.

If any of you are in the Portland area a great store to window shop for woodworkers.
