After much hoping and dreaming and pining and planning but very little budgeting the thoughts of getting a SawStop 3HP has been put on hold. The next best thing in my mind is the G1023RL from Grizzly so I’ve gone ahead and called the sales office and ordered the saw, mobile base and a zero clearance insert.

10” 3 HP 240V Cabinet Left-Tilting Table Saw
SKU: G1023RL

Zero Clearance Table Saw Insert for G1023
SKU: H0628

Shop Fox Heavy-Duty Mobile Base
SKU: D2057A

Just waiting on the freight company to give me a call to schedule the delivery. This is the hard part as my driveway is very long and has almost no possible way for a delivery truck to drive on. My last big ticket item had to be re-scheduled a few times on top of damaging the driveway, hoping for a better delivery experience this time around.

UPDATE: It was a lot easier than expected to get this thing off the crate. Just removed the box around the unit, lifted one end and kicked the crate to set one edge down on the ground. Did the same on the other side.

The real difficulty started when trying to get the table and extensions level. Lots of brass shims were used. I found it helpful to get a sharpie marker and write the thickness on the shim itself. Bought a box of brass 8×11 sheets with various thicknesses and cut them up into smaller squares for this purpose.

After all that, put a Forrest Woodworker blade in and she cut through all kinds of species. Great saw, highly recommended.

It’s funny you say that because I actually did order two. When I called the lady I spoke to asked me the quantity of each item after I gave the SKU, which was odd after giving G1023RL – “People order more than one at a time?” I thought. But when she asked me quantity on the ZCI I said make it two. ;)

Did they give you a time frame for delivery? I’m considering buying a lathe from them and if I do I hope my transaction goes smoothly.
