I am a US Army Combat Veteran living in Mesa, AZ. I grew up in California (around the Downey/Bellflower area) and here in Arizona, we moved back and forth for various reasons. When living here in AZ we typically lived with my Grandparents. My Grandfather would buy land, build a house (or two) and then sell the properties. I was always out there working with him when I could get the chance. I never actually cut wood, but every now and again he'd let me knock in a nail or two. Unfortunately, he past when I was only 10 years old. That was the end of my life in carpentry.

When I was around 16 years old, I started getting into car audio and would build speaker boxes for my cars. I didn't get too into it, if I had a car (or a friend's car) that needed a box, I'd build one. I never got to elaborate with them. In fact my only saw at the time was a jigsaw.

Fast forward another 4 years and I joined the Army. This pushed me even further from woodworking. I was in the Army for a little over 5 years. I was stationed in Korea and then in Louisiana. I was deployed to Iraq in 2003.

When I got out of the military, I went to college for what I thought at the time was the best career in which I could make a lot of money and do something I love... graphic design. I graduated Valedictorian. But soon realized that there is no such thing as design in graphic design. It's more about producing the design in someone else's (the customer's) head, not providing creative ideas.

Around this time I started picking up little furniture projects here and there. So about 12 years ago I bought a table saw. I bought the most horrible table saw on the planet. My first project was an upholstered ottoman. That thing was a tank. Since then I built many many projects and come a long way in terms of skill. I still have a long way to go and sadly, I still have that horrible table saw.

We are planning on buying a house in August (2018) and once we get settled in, I hope to become more serious about my woodworking ventures. My dream builds are a high boy and a guitar.
