no previous part Part 1 of Sam Maloof Rocker series no next part

Guess I got the bug to do a Sam Maloof rocker.

I have been looking at different suppliers for plans for a Maloof rocker and I found three that look pretty good.
Charles Brock, Scott Morrison, Hal Taylor
I wondering if anyone has had any experience with ordering any these plans or have any recommendations.
I sure would appreciate any help you can give me.

I heard really good feedback on Scott Morrison.

I’ve used both Hal Taylor and Scott Morrision in my opinion I suggest getting both sets, both have unique and inspirational ideas when it comes to making chairs Hal Taylor specifically rocking chairs but his techniques can be transferred to any type of chair.

I’m a big fan of the flexible back braces Hal teaches you to make.

it’s a shame you live so far.. I teach the making of the Maloof rockers here in my shop and use templates that Sam copied for me himself..I also am doing a rocker that was the last and final prototype rocking chair that Sam made right before he passed in 2009. it’s a different looking rocker with Sam’s signature looks, but much different.. you can see it off my website

well..don’t feel too was a whopping 29 degree’s here yesterday morning..but it warmed up to the high 40’s..LOL

as for me knowing Sam..’s one of the few things in my life that I was -privileged to have happened to me..Thanks..

If you want my opinion as to which templates to use.. I would go for Scott Morrison’s..his chairs and rockers are in my opinion, closer to the looks of Sam’s than the others..JMHO

I too would like to make a rocker. Has anyone used the Scott Morrison video and templates to make a rocker? What skill level is required?

Thanks for you opinion.
