I have been using shop vacs for dust collection for a number of years. They work for some tools and not at all for others. So I recently decided to acquire a dust collector: high volume and low pressure. First some info about my “shop”. My shop is a two car garage that has two cars parked in it. Part 2: Big Problem

After mounting the 4” fitting for the intake to the Thien baffle, I marked and located where the 5” boss of the blower should go. Before cutting the opening, I placed the top hat assembly on the blower. It won’t fit. So step back and look at the project once more. I decided to try and use the bag/collector ring as the cyclone part of the Thein baffle. Somewhat similar to this. I developed a model in Sketchup:
