Location: Poway CA

I've been pounding nails and sawing wood since I was a little guy growing up just outside Pittsburgh in Millvale PA. My friends and I where building tree houses, go carts (gravity type) and the various school shop class projects. After serving 8 years in the Navy I returned to the states and have restored a couple of homes in Pittsburgh and Cleveland. I'm now back on the west coast and looking down the throat of my next big house project. My wife and I have purchased ~ 1,500 square feet of salvaged gymnasium flooring from some guys who cut the old gym floor out of Saddle-back College. The wood is premium grade 1" thick x 2 1/4 " wide Maple tongue and grove and I'm pulling it apart board by board ~ lots of work but in the end it'll be nice. Plus I'll have some wood for fun projects.

While disccusing the project with the house ways and means committee (the wife) I added a rider to the bill which would include a table saw. So I started tooling Craigslist, eBay, Newspapers, etc and I started getting a hankering for a Shopsmith. Eventually I found one that hit my price point 150 bucks and another one 1 week later for 50 bucks (both via Craigslist~ love that site). So now I'm the proud owner of two classic Shopsmith 10E machines, The serial numbers are 2240 (slightly rough when purchased) and 4299 (very rough when purchased) so they are 1947 vintage machines. So the labor of love is under way ~ there both cleaning up nice with complete tear downs, a lot elbow grease and new primer/paint jobs. I'll have pictures soon.
