FYI - Better Dewalt Blades for Dw735 - 6 replies

I recently upgraded my planer to the Dewalt DW735. Most of the reviews favor this as one of the best. Most of the complaints are about the blades not lasting long. Today while at Woodcraft I got to talking to my buddy there about the planer and then got started on the subject of the blades. He smiled and took me over to where the blades were on...

Warped turning blank tenons - 19 replies

I have a question for you experienced turners out there. When roughing in a green bowl blank or whatever I always leave a good 10-15 percent of material on the blank before setting it aside to dry out. The problem that has occurred on occasion is when returning to finish the job, I find the tenon has warped also. Sometimes beyond being able to g...

Harbor Freight Motors - 15 replies

I was wondering if any of you out there have any experience with Harbor freight Smith and Jones elec motors. The motor on my Rockford drill press bought back in 1981 finally decided it was time to quit. The armature inside looks like someone had a campfire to keep warm. I paid $65 dollar back then for it new so don’t’ want to spend...

fish tank stand clear finish ? - 16 replies

I’m at the completion point of a new fish tank top and stand and wondering what is the best clear finish to use over hickory. rikon 70-300 lathe - 12 replies

I am looking at the rikon 70-300 lathe. Haven’t seen much said about it on the reviews here in quite awhile. One of the features I like is the sliding head. I know others out there have this but not at the price. The 230v will be no problem. Just trying to get some new input on this lathe from hands on experience. thanks
