Hey fellow Lumberjocks, I am trying to find a trustworthy and best cost supplier of Ipe or Teak wood for building a large deck. Any help would be appreciated. I am in Kentucky.

Pen Mandrel...what's the difference? - 10 replies

I am looking into purchasing a pen mandrel for my lathe. When I search on the web, I noticed almost everyone has one in the 10-12 dollar range and another one in the 24-27 dollar range. What is the difference in the cheaper one and the more expensive one? Which one would you recommend?

Do you subscribe to any woodworking magazines? If so, which ones? I currently receive Woodcraft and was thinking of ordering Wood. However, I was wanting to get some opinions on what are the best magazines available for woodworkers. I am interested in project ideas, patterns and woodworking tips in a magazine.

Trees fallen because of ice. - 15 replies

I have some trees that have fallen, because of the ice storms that came through. I lost two 40 foot pines. What would you do with these trees? I don’t ever use pine for firewood, because the high sap content can burn your house down. Are they worth getting processed for wood working wood, or is pine so cheap it is best just to get so...

Bowed lamination after the fact... - 3 replies

I glued up a cutting board several days ago. I used three clamps across the lamination and I used two cowles like I always do clamped across the horizontal to ensure flatness.
