While at my grandparents house recently, I dug through the basement hoping to find some tools I’d have use for. My great-grandfather was quite the woodworker and while I’ve previously collected a variety of tools from there I decided to focus on things I could use for woodworking with this visit. Part 2: Wood rabbet plane

About nine months ago my dad gave me one of my great-grandfather’s planes, a wooden rabbet plane. When he gave it to me I sharpened the blade as best I could and gave it a try, but set it aside because I didn’t have a specific use for it. Over the last few nights I worked at cleaning it up a bit. Part 3: Blackburn Tools Roubo Frame Saw

To make thin stock, I’ve planed down boards. 1”+ to 3/8-1/2” thickness for things. So much waste! I’ve tried using a hand saw to do this, but, well, you need only do it once to recognize how hard it is. A bandsaw is the obvious solution. Two years ago, it’s what I was focused on.
