Best Scroll Saw? - 14 replies

I have decided to buy a scroll saw and know nothing about them. What’s the best beginner’s saw for the money, not necessarily the cheapest? How about negatives, too?

wood stabilizer? - 10 replies

Does anyone know of a product that I can put on punky wood to stabilize the rot? The area will not show in the finished piece. It’s a tree trunk, lowest log and sawn close to the ground. It’s going to be the pedestal for a table made of a maple “cookie.” Thanks in advance,Dale

Those folks who take photos as “portraits” instead of “landscapes” are essentially telling the viewer that they are not important and that he should just not go through the trouble of downloading it and rotating it. If your results aren’t pleasing, STOP DOING IT!!

Cherry, anyone? - 0 replies

I have quite a bit of air-dried cherry (three years), some of it quarter sawn. Anyone want to trade lumber, especially black walnut? Not interested in oak, hickory, pine, or poplar. Will deliver to a reasonable distance from Indianapolis. Dale

Glue Edge on Burl - 6 replies

I am using some bird’s eye maple on a jewelry box lid, edge gluing it to strips of the same walnut with which I’m making the box. When I try to joint an edge for gluing, I get tear-out from the maple burl. I’m down to ripping off 1/16 of the maple in order to get a good edge but am not satisfied. How can I get a glue edge...
