Tried the table saw function but didn’t like it at all, I really was only interested in it as a lathe, just have to track down the parts for that

I’ve done some great turnings on the shop smith and just love it as a drill press.
It is a wood workers drill press with many advantages.
But as a table saw it will get it done but???

Awsome! I think the variable speed control on the Shopsmith makes it much handier than a conventional lathe or drill press and its kinda handy with the disc sander for the same reason. I seldom use mine as a table saw.

I pulled my 500 table set up off and got the 510 table upgrade off of ebay for under $500. My shopsmith is the main tool in my shop and I have used all the functions with no hassles what so ever. Set up times and change overs are the biggest complaint I have ever seen posted. Read the books if you have them, practice with all the change overs and they will get faster then you think. What I have found out it takes just as long if not longer to just go from one stand alone to the next and doing set ups as it does changing over the Shopsmith. To do the upgrade watch Doug Reid’s youtube on upgrading the powerhead.
