Our eldest grandson (14yrs) is doing woodwork at high school and for the most he’s enjoying working with wood creating.
So while he’s keen it’s a good time to introduce him to the machinery in my shed.
His mum, our middle daughter hinted she’d love a Reindeer and Sleigh like the ones I’d built for the community club Christmas raffle, prefect.
So while I prepped the timber we organized a time between soccer training (yes, even over the summer school holidays for rep players) to have an overnight stay and make a start on the project.
Best of all my payment was that he mowed the yard for me before the shed time.
He used the SCMS, bandsaw, bobbin sander, inverted trim router which is table mounted plus the delta sander.
The glue up has started with the base, back and seat of the sleigh.
Pretty good progress for 2.5hrs in the shed.
I’ve drawn the reindeer onto the timber for cutting out on the next visit.
Making the pattern templates a couple of years ago has definitely paid off.

Good to see crowie... introduce him to the world of woodworking poverty.
Just don’t brain wash him and hope he has the cents and space to buy a lathe when he grows up…

That is great to have him working with you. I wish I had a grandson. I guess I’ll have to adopt one!

Thank you one and all, less than 5 hours to go until we enter 2022, a new year. Let’s hope it provides good health, safety and some prosperity for us all plus a good amount of productive shed time being creative.
