Project Information

Well, if you remember back about 2 months ago I asked what wood stayed red over time, ( see here ) this the project I was talking about. The Ruger logo is red so that is what I wanted to use.

I have been wanting to make a project out of holly for over a year now and I have been thinking about this one for a couple of months now. It's made entirely out of holly and ebony with bloodwood for the logos.

It surprised me just how long it took to make. I figured "I'll just knock if out in a couple of days". Well that couple of days took me about 2 weeks. Mainly because I could only work on it when my daughter took her nap and a few hours in the evening. About half the time was spent meticulously working on the ebony trim around the openings.

It's finally done, so I can move on to my next project.

Yep, Gary, you did a wonderful job on it…

Thank you for showing it…

What do you use the pistol for? Target practice?

Is that a silencer?

Looks like it would be fun to shoot.

Beautiful Work, Gary.

Hope the ATF doesn't show up because of the silencer.

Sweet Gary. I really like the Ruger inlay on the lid, and the ebony banding around the recesses inside. Looks like a 22 bull barrel?

I forgot to mention, that is a silencer. The ATF knows all about it. I own it legally. You just have pay the ATF for their tax stamp (and wait about 3 months for it), live in a state that allows it (about 40 states do) and have a lot of patience.

Incredible housing for the pistol. No wonder it took two weeks to make.

Very nice pistol case.
How frequent do you have to report to the authority to have the bullets purchase & stock inspected?

Double-Wow! The box is beautiful with details aplenty and a very unique shape. French-fitting is an A+. And the inlay to boot. Fine weapon too. I have a much older bull-barrel ('84), with old-fashion grip plates. They are tack-drivers. Never seen a silenced one though.

Great job, I can understand why that took as long as it did, it is a very detailed project. Looks awesome, a job well done.
It probably took a week just to get it to float in the clouds like that.
Thanks,

I didn't know "assassin" was among your many talents, Gary. But I guess it does explain how you you have time for these incredible projects. :)

I'm curious as to how you did the ebony trim around the openings. I can definitely believe it was time-consuming and meticulous.
