Project Information

The only boots I made using a female's boots as a model. Claro walnut has variance in quality, colour and texture and this appears in the pair of boots shown which were carved from the same block of wood. The boots show a solid and firm heel and toe with an extended top to provide for comfort for one who had to stand in front of large class of rambunctious kids. All of these united to depict strength of character in my teacher during my early years in public school. You showed respect and dare not misbehave in her class.
I have other female boots on the drawing board and these will be shown in the future.

You need to make a couple of accessories for these boots, a ruler and an apple. The apple from a student trying to be nice to the teacher, and the ruler for rapping the knuckles of the class clown. (grin)

These bring back memries of any teacher who stood for hours on end at the blackboards of the nation, trying to impart a love of learning to a nation of kids. They are as great a momento as any medal of honor.

there is something very .. hmmm haunting, perhaps??? about having the story of teachers past and the boot, there without laces…
I imagine the teacher being very particular about her appearance and her clothes and now, years later, these remain, unkempt, uncared for…... ...

beautiful work!

An absolutely beautiful piece of art. I'm always amazed to see clothing made in wood. I can't imagine the hours you have put in this project. The boots also brought me back to a teacher that demanded respect and got it too! She was about 4 foot something. LOL Tks for sharing.

Out of all your boots… these are my favorite! These boots are so well done… even the 'posturing' is spot on. Totally GREAT!
