Might as well make the back match the front? Last photo shows the "before"..Needed better, safer steps, a better gate, and a better spot to park the trash can.
Found a 6' length of railing at Lowes….and used some of the leftovers from the front porch build. Idea was that when the gate was closed, it looked like a solid railing. watchdog in#4 photo is Max.
3 bags of River Rocks form a base….then 4 bags of River Pebbles to smooth things out, and give the "can" a better, level spot to park in. Also easier to load the trash into the can. had to buy one 4×4 x8' post, and a couple 2×4 x 8' boards to build the railing…and 5 spindles. There is a blog, somewhere, about building this. Turnbuckle to keep the gate level, and sag free. About one weekend of work….well spent?
