Beautiful build. I like the glider/rocker part, have not seen a Morris like that. I build a Morris, the only piece of furniture I have build. It was fun.

Your picture appears to be of a young Man, you get a pass on taking some time to get done. Family, work, and all that gotta get covered first.

Nice chair, more so that it is the glider of the species. I like that fabric too.

Thanks for sharing.

They are actually the top of the legs made into a tenon that is going through the arms. They are shaped to be a very low pyramid so they are visual and tactile, but not uncomfortable to lay your hands on. Adds strength and aesthetics.

Thank you! Yes, this project was originally meant to be made prior to my daughter being born, so we would have a chair to rock her in. She is now turning 4, but luckily it is finished before my second daughter comes in another month or so…

Beautiful chair. i always wondered what a walnut one looked like.
Did you buy plans for doing this as a glider?

Yes and no. I downloaded the plans for the chair from WOOD magazine. I found a hardware kit and plans from Platte River Engineering for a glider base. I melded the two in CAD so they more "seamlessly" came together and I had accurate dimensions going forward.

Beautiful. What was the most challenging part?

- bhud35
I would have to say all the through mortise and tenon joinery. Walnut is a tough wood and getting them all to fit took it's time. They are not perfect by any means and have their share of gaps, but I guess as the saying goes "you are your own worst critic".
