Project Information

Saw a bunch of videos from MTM Wood about end grain cutting boards and thought I would try my hand at it. It was fun to make and the video was excellent, though it is non-verbal. I made 4 of them and limited in size by my 13" planer. Gave the biggest board to my wife as a bribe for a 15" planer.

I like how your mind works.

MTM is motivating cutting board makers worldwide. He has some dandy designs that a savvy guy can copy if all you do is swap metric hints to whatever works for your shop.

You were a good student and that board is very nice.

If you feel something tugging at the side of your cheek, don't worry, you're just hooked.

Thanks for posting.

I don't have a link per se, just google end grain mtm and his videos all pop up. I just watched, paused, wrote numbers down and went out to the shop.

Hey Zoomie, I love your board and after I watched this video
I am really amazed at how much work it took to make it.
Great job.

Does that mean you ran end grain through your planer? I thought that was a BIG no-no.

Are you sure your wife doesn't need a 24 inch cutting board (planer).

When you start getting tear out from the planer you're going to need a drum sander. The things we do for our loved ones ;-)

At first I wondered how could you use that as a cutting board with all of those shapes sticking up out of it. Then I looked closely and saw that it is just an amazing 3D effect. WOW! Now THAT is amazing stuff, and took a tremendous amount of work. I am simply in awe. Congratulations on the wonderful outcome!
