Project Information

Kegan was in the shop the other day and seen that I had made some ships,' I didn't know you could make ships papa". I have made a few small wooden ships so I sask if he liked ships. Long story short , he wanted a battle ship,,, so I have it a try. I had to make it by resizing the plans because I could not find the full size plans. The next one will be like 36' this on is only 21' Thanks to a good friend that had a full size plan.

Phew, Quick… and neat. Great job OB1. Like the way left the flotsam and jetsam floating in the background!

Just hope he doesn't ask for a sub and torpedoes a hole in the bathtub.

Perfect for a youngster and very nicely done. This was the kind of ship I imagined myself on when I joined the Navy in 1957, but I wound up on freighter instead. No complaints though as it was a lot more fun than being on a battleship!

Very cool. When I was in the Navy my last ship was a destroyer and those ships are fun to be on. Keep up the great work. I know your grandson will be thrilled.

Anthm27,
You ask what kind of wood was used? Lol. scrap. The small deck is pine, guns pine with birch dowels, Big guns are maple and birch, Super Structure is walnut, maple. The antenna is a fiberglass rod that runs from the bottom of the ship to the top to add some strength to the super structure. Like I said scrap, I was in a hurry to see how it turned out so if I had to redo it I would have time. Still have to see how she is in the bathtub. lol
