Project Information

Had some pieces of apple wood from a tree of mine that ice tore down some limbs last winter. Was going to use them in smoker and noticed one had a bunch of weird looking growths on it, so it was saved. Wanted to do a mushroom and thought this wood might be good for it. I left some live edge on it to set off the grain a little. It came out a lot better than I figured. The grain direction gave me fits, but got it done. One of the pictures was with lights off and flash on to really pop the different grains. The finish is just Triple E after sanded to a high grit. The size is around 5" wide and 7 1/2" tall.

Great job Mel, there is some really interesting grain in that wood. Just goes to show you should NEVER toss wood.
Thanks for sharing.
