Dust Collection Accesory/s

In the continuing road of dust collection, Wynn, Donaldson, and many other filter places, Since adding the Onieda Super Dust Deputy to my collector, I've been wanting to buy a canister filter for my H.F. 2hp dust collector that many of us have. After numerous hours on here and throughout the gr8 internet, I finally pulled the trigger on this one:
It is a Grizzly H5783. It's actually a replacement canister for the Grizzly dust collector's, G0548/Z & G0562/Z, but this fits our/my HF 2hp collector. It fits it like it was made for it.

It fits over the lip of the HF collector perfectly (I had to "finesse it" ever so slighty). It comes with a built in flapper that I really liked for an option. Every now n then just give it a spin to know off any dust that will be collection on the filter element.

A lot of you may think this is a bit costly, I do too, (about 220 w/shipping), but, my lungs are gonna appreciate it down the road. After firing it up today, I am over the top satisfied.

Here is a few pics of the old, nasty, caked-up upper bag that this cannister replaced: Notice how nice of a fit

I also replaced the bottom bag with a new one, & emptied out my can. I even put a new filter in my over-head air cleaner so I am starting out with everything clean.

Here it is with the new canister on it:

I am truly impressed at how much more suction this has. It even seems like it may be a hair quieter…..I always wear earplugs anyway, but, it does seem a bit quieter.

Anyhoo, I feel this is an amazing addition to the HF 2hp collector. I still need to re-position the impeller to make it more efficient. That'll be after the holidays are over, and I'll add my thoughts on here later.

Thnx for the looks, comments, good/bad/ugly. Always appreciate ya'll's inputs and thoughts. As I always say, Work/Play safe. Keep that dust collector fed.

Looks like a good setup Roger, nice and compact.
After my 1hp unit carked it I ended up getting a 2hp unit. It sits outside now so I don't need to worry about a filter.
Well done buddy and have a great Christmas.

Nice mobile dust collector. That is nice that the filter has a wiper in it. That dust will hang in those folds.

Thanks for sharing….............Jim

Not too sure what I'm looking at but I have a Grizzly 240v G1029 2hp dust collector w/fiber bag top and bottom and my top bag ( nor the bottom bag) ever looked like that. Pretty sure the top bag on mine is a 5 micron bag, could be wrong. It is at least 10 years old so who knows ?

That's quite a system you have there, Roger. Looks like you have made some additions to the original HF collector. I probably should look into getting a new upper bag myself. Like I said before, I have a Penn State collector. OK, my man, good luck with the system. I'm waiting for notification fro Grizzly that my Air filter was shipped.

That's really a nice setup!

What's the life expectancy on the filter cartridge?

Way to go! 1 thing I have noticed is the flapper helps, but doesn't get it all out. I found that out when I was having motor problems with my DC, the tech rep I talked to had me clean it out. I was using the flap on a regular basis, and was surprised how much remained. Every so often use a blow gun, low pressure, and blow it out, from the outside in.

There's no such thing as too much dc.

Thnx for the looks, tips, and comments ya'll.

Soon very soon I will be addressing this duxt collector problem also, Very good work Roger

The saga of dust collection continues.
Here is a pic of my HF dc before:

And here is the same HF dc today:

Because I've noticed some reactions to that nasty stuff called dust, I've been trying to do what I can to help myself and my lungs live a while longer. Being retired, and on a fixed income, I'm doing it on my once a month payday.. Trying to get the best bang for my buck I guess. Anyhoo, here are a few more pics of piping my shop w/4" pvc. Questions, suggestions, comments, good/bad/ugly, will be appreciated. Thnx for stopping in. Let's all breath better.

Because the 4" blast gates (I had 5, then added 8 more, and have 2 extras--got them from Rockler on sale for $7.49each).........don't fit the pvc very well, I opted to use this method of using tape. Actually 9 times around with the tape, then the pvc fit nice and snug plus I added 2 small 1/4" hex head screws to be sure it was tight.
Wood Adhesive Tableware Gas Paint

I also added a plexi glass window in my 30 gal can so it would easier to see when it needs emptied:

I use this old and heavy iron that I found at a flea market as a weight when I need something stout:

I now have a "Kracken" who eats the heck out my dust: Thnx to my loverly wifee and her painting skills:

Like most of ya'll, I'll continue to "update" this dust control situation. I know my new Grizzly 1023 could use a lot of help.

Dust Collection #3

Continuing with collecting dust everywhere but, in our my lungs, After finishing my 4" pvc dust collection creation, I wanted to catch all the dust I could at the blade of my table saw. I did not want to spend the big bux for an over-arm system, so, I purchased this shroud from PennStInd: https://www.pennstateind.com/store/TSGUARD-DH.html
and after watching a few different videos on youtube, I fabricated my own kind of "over-arm" dust collection:
Wood Creative arts Engineering Machine Gas

Here's a few other pictures of it:

Fully adjustable up, down, front-to-back. Easy to raise it up and get it out of the way. It works great as far as sucking up the dust around the blade.

Thnx for the looks. Any comments, good/bad/ugly, and thoughts are always appreciated.

Going on with a few more additions for collecting that nasty dust, is this nice clear acrylic lathe dust collection hood from PennStInd, that I upgraded my old cardboard box "alligator".... you can find it here: https://www.pennstateind.com/store/DLHOODC2.html.
World Wood Font Engineering Advertising

It's actually still "on-sale" for 20 bux…. Well worth it in my book. It works super well for turning pens, small spindles/handles, & things like that. You wouldn't be able to use it while turning bowls because of the way it actually wraps around the turning material. My new acrylic hood is also a dust eating alligator as you can see in the picture below. Compliments of eddie in Louisianna. Thank you buddy. Hey, if you can't have any fun in your shop, then, you're not having much fun.

The table that my lathe lives on, is also home to my oscillating, small and large belt sanders. All have dust collection w/2 1/2" hose that I move from one machine to another, which ever sander I'm running. Similar to McDonalds, "I'm Luvin it"............meaning my dust collection.

Just a quick fix for plunge router dust collection hose that needs to be up and out of the way. It don't get anymore *********************************** than this ladies and gents. Works grrrrrrrrrr8! The bungie cord keeps it up, and keeps it flexible. Total cost…. Ohh I don't know, maybe 3.87…. LOL. Just so's you's know's…........

I do have one long hose that I'll use for "sweeping" up here and there, thus the longness of it,
Gas Machine Engineering Font Metal

my "hot-rod" floor sweep

and having it reduced to 2 1/2" I can use a few adapters like affixing it to my plunge router via a reducer, (it really sux that router dust btw), a brush, and

are just a few accessories that are handy dandy. Thnx for checkin in. You might be heading to Harbor Freight or Wally World to get a few bungies,,,,,,, don't forget a hook to hang from the ceiling.

What's nice about this bungee from the ceiling, I can hook up the hose at anytime at that area, because when I'm done, I just take the hose down, and hook the bungee to itself and it's always there and up high enough where I have to reach for it….........so, I don't hit my head or get my hair caught in the hook….......don't ask how I know that part of the sitchee-a-tion… hahahaha
