Thank you folks ! I will update with some good pictures of it in proper lighting. The pics here were only one coat of oil. The figure is incredible but the wood was a joy to work. I'm fortunate enough to have about 750 bd ft of this walnut in 8/4. They did such a great job kiln drying it properly they are remarkably flat and have very little if any tension etc.

Fantastic work and beautiful wood!!!

By the way, I am a Carswell and live in Atlanta. Where are you? It is an unusual name and we all seem to be related somehow.

Thank you folks ! The chair was a valentine's day gift for my wife and she was thrilled . It took around 150 to 190 hours to make . I will get some updated pictures it has 2 more coats of finish and a coat of natural briwax since the pictures. I will by Friday get some updated close up pictures of the wood and chair in proper lighting. Thank you so much for all the kind words it means a lot to me. I was a long time member of another forum and the negativity turned me off. I'm happy to find an encouraging community here !

You bet I'd be happy to answer any questions. Bastogne walnut is a Rare hybrid of English walnut and California claro walnut. It's really hard to find normally I scored and got a slabbed clear log with very low sapwood
