Project Information
My 94 year old grandmother requested a bible stand for her funeral. Hardest project ever. Sanded this sucker three times over. Maple panels are bookmatched, walnut inlay. First inlay, sharpened the hell out of the chisels (pun) and went to town. Everything glued and dowelled. No pesky nails or screws. The ledge is jatoba and has three dowells through it. Total piece is about 11" long and 8" wide, 7" tall. Finished with a couple soaking coats of danish oil.
The text on left was done by a local trophy shop using laser engraving-hence the darker letters. I had assembled the piece and then took it to him, so I then had to construct a box which would allow the piece to be perfectly flat and register perfectly in the corner of the engraver bed.
