Project Information

Another recent project for a friend. A gift for her Mother. She wanted a paper towel holder that would hold a bounty large roll. I had to go buy one to make sure of the measurements. The dowel slides in slots cut in the sides for easy change of rolls. A simple project but was really fun to do. Stained with red oak and sealed with gloss polyurethane.

A side note, check out the swing in the background. It has hung from our porch for 21 years now and was grayed and weathered but still strong. I took it down and lightly sanded it just to smooth it a bit and not remove the patina. I applied a coat of cherry stain then sealed with low gloss polyurethane. My Wife really liked the way it came out. I guess this is two project posts in one!

Thanks for the comments everyone! I had fun doing both of these. Dave, the slot idea came about when she said her mom needed it easy to change for health reasons. That was the easiest way I could think of. Sadly, she didn't get the paper towels. They were in my shop too long and slowly vanished. :) Thanks for looking!
