Project Information
I have a classmate who runs a workshop for adults with special needs.
This workshop is celebrating 50 years in our town this year. The workshop provides a safe environment for daily actives and very simple jobs for physically and mentally challenged adults.
Its a great organization who gets no state or federal funding.
So every year they have a Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser and auction of donated items and community services to raise funds for sustainability and new items.
I usually donate cutting boards to the auction, but this year I stepped it up a notch.
I constructed a Little Free Library of Qt. Sawn oak framing and rough sawn cedar.
The base floor of the LFL is 5/4 oak and also all the structural framing.
Panels were set in tongue and groove rails and styles.
Front door is tempered glass.
Roof is 1/2 in plywood with ice and water shield and cedar shingles i added the copper roof cap for kicks with all copper nails.
Coated the entire project with Sikkens Clear Cetol , roof also .
Its fun to create a project from a design build aspect that is of your own ideas and concepts with no expectations other than your own.
I added a shelf and battery operated pull chain LED light.
6×6 cedar post was the support which was pre assembled and drilled.
All the new owner had to do was get the hole dug set the box on top and add two bolts.
Cheers ….
