Project Information
Two days after I retired from the Prison, I was on a plane to Germany. I had the privilege while in Europe to visit the U.S. Cemetery at Omaha Beach. A humbling and extremely moving experience. It had been my goal to collect some rocks from all the beaches. Unfortunately, I was not able to visit Gold, Sword or Juno Beaches. I made these plaques and gave them to friends who I knew would appreciate them. The plaque with Operation Overlord is mine and displayed in my Man Cave. It also has a the only rock I could recover at Pointe du Hoc. I dug it out of the dirt next to the concrete of the northern most gun emplacement. I get goose bugs every time I think about or speak of that visit. I can of only one other place as moving. Someday I hope to visit Arlington National Cemetery.
