Project Information
I made this little sled stop this morning after my buddy Bricofleur/Serge mentioned that I was cutting through the guard on my cross cut sled and I thought it was time to come up with a permanent solution and retire the previous removable stop which I would forget to use from time to time and cut through the blade guard so this one is for you Serge . See project http://lumberjocks.com/projects/160826
I had given this idea some thought and could not come up with a situation where it would get in the way of other accessories or operation so on the saw it went .
This stop is permanent at the end of the mitre slot and stops the sled by the sled runner coming in contact with the stop .
I used a piece of square aluminum pipe that I happen to have and a chunk of pine as a block and two 1/4" bolts and nuts to fasten it to the back rail all very simple and took about thirty minutes to make .
I don't think I have to explain the build as there are enough pictures that I took as I built it .
Laying out the cut out with pipe already cut to length and the end shaped .
The wooden bock cut to fit inside the pipe
The mounting holes marked out and a couple of screws into the sides to lock the pipe to the wooden block and the two mounting bolts
The stop assembly on the saw after I drilled the mounting holes using the stop assembly as a pattern for the holes
Installed the bolt and ready to go and I don't have to remember to install that old removable stop .
