Project Information

This is a kitchen island my wife and I designed and I built for our new home. It's built from cherry with a maple butcher block top and a live edge cherry slab for a breakfast bar. It's basically just 3 cabinets put together but it was a challenge to figure out how to attach the bracket supports and live edge slab. The left cabinet houses the microwave, the center is a pullout garbage bin, and the right is the wine and liqueur cabinet.
Thanks for viewing and as always, I welcome constructive criticism.

I know this would have cost considerably more but it would have been nice to carry over the black granite from your other counter tops to this one instead of the maple butcher block top. However it does look very nice the way it is and the cherry slab is perfect.
Well done.

The faux (or real) rock adds a whole lot to the island. Really nice!

Great design and finish. I love the cherry top (and the liquor cabinet idea) :)

We are in the midst of redesigning our kitchen. From looking at your photos, our kitchen layout and space is similar to yours. We are planning on including an island as part of the reno. My wife really enjoyed seeing what you've done as it reinforces our thoughts that we're doing it right.

That is a beautiful island and kitchen to match!
