Project Information

My wife and I welcomed our third child to our family, and we wanted newborn pictures taken. My wife was working on a knit blanket and decided she wanted to have it in the pictures. While talking about it, we decided it would be cool to have a bowl for her picture to be taken in. I turned it from dried log to bowl the morning of the pictures and got it done just in time. It was just rough turned with no sanding to keep it rugged looking contrasting her tiny self. It's about 16" in diameter, and I left a very large base so it wouldn't dump her out. I am thinking about finishing it out for her to give as a gift, but haven't decided yet. I may just give it to her as is. Thanks for looking.

Sweet baby girl and a great pic.

We have a friend who runs a photography studio and this style of baby photography is all the rage these days. So cute how they sleep soundly through it all curled up into a little ball.

Great photo. What was most fun? Making the bowl or making the baby? <grin>

Jim, I'd be willing to bet it's the bowl. More time and effort involved in the making. Hehehe

That could be quite a family heirloom. Holding that bowl when she is grown can give a reference to how small she was as a baby.

Exemplary work. Absolutely first-rate.

I would put the bowl away, and give it to her as a wedding gift. Whatever you do, fabulous work with lots of potential to be enjoyed for years and years. Well done.

Makeing the Baby is the easy part , makeing them into good Adults is the Hard part.
Great looking bowl and a great idea for the photo.
