Project Information

Nothing really fancy about this project, but those who catch it out of the corner of their eye always ask about it..

My wife asked me to do something about an old tree stump in our back yard. This is what I ended up with. Believe it or not, a Gnome now lives in that stump! Since whipping up this gnome home, hollowing out the top of the stump and planting some flowers, most who have caught it have asked me to make them a little door…

Anyway, just a quick project to bring some life/interest into an otherwise busted up dead old tree stump or a living tree. Made out of scrap wood.

I love it, I will encourage my daughter to cut down her old, I think dying, tree in the front yard so I can build one - thanks.

Great job!

I have seen these in catalogs made out of plastic resin for $20 or more, but that is just for the door. The chimney and steps and flowers make it look like something out of a Disney cartoon. Makes me wish I had an old stump in my garden. Thanks for sharing.

Very clever to make a stump a focal point. I agree the steps and chimney take it to the next level. I take it you dug out the top of it to make into a planter?
