Project Information

Sharing with you a sculpture i recently did.
I normally incorporate my sculptures with my furniture (functional sculptures). At least once a year, I work on free form sculptures to hone my senses on the organic flow of lines for future designs. I've had this piece of spalted narra lying around for ages. I thought I would play around with it and feel what the wood's soul would let me work it. It was a tough wood to sculpt but the end result was well worth it.

The sculpture measures:

Ht 16"
W 26"
D 16"

Have a great weekend guys!

It seems to be Atlas bent over with the weight of our world on his shoulders.

The soul as it flows to your hands is a powerful piece sir! Like most of the wood in your hands! Well Done!

If a piece of wood needs to show off it's beauty, it would surely be in for a treat in your hands! Beautifully executed.

The first photo looks, to me, as an abstract of a rhinoceros looking from back to front!

But rhinos are not that smooth and flowing!

Very nice sculpture. It gives a good feelings to my eyes. My first association was a Crankshaft :) Still the feeling is like sitting in an elegant place, looking at it again and again , can't take my eyes off from it. (Not as stay in the back yard of the garage)

Wonderful sculpture Benji. It looks like very hard wood to carve, but you sure did a fine job on it.

Hmm, it has some bony elements almost a contoured vertebral column…..from the front it reminds me of a upper torso with strong pecs….....and then a corkscrew…....I could go on and on. Bottom line: how grand to make a shape that stimulates the mind to play with every changing shapes. Are real brain teaser. Sweet :)
Another wonderful piece Benji.
Have a fabulous evening!
