Project Information

I made this child-size stove out of pine for my granddaughter. It features removable burners with a burner handle, a removable oven rack, two open storage shelves on the right size, a storage area with a lift-up lid on the left side, a storage area with a pull-down door at the top, a drawer under the oven, and two storage areas with pull-open doors next to the oven. I loved working on this project, and my granddaughter has enjoyed countless hours playing with it. Hopefully, she will pass this down to her children one day.

AND THEN!

FANTASTIC!

I am old enough to remember when this kind of stoves were everywhere! The rural NW North Dakota areas of the late 40's early 50's were without electricity and most kitchens had stoves of that design!

Very nicely done!

I'd love to have a six-burner stove. So, can you make me one? Which burner has the pot underneath for heating the water? LOL

No wonder your granddaughter loves playing with it! Thanks for sharing.

Very nice. I hope when you gave it to her that the first words out of your mouth were "Don't light it!" HA!

Here in Croatia we use to say : ''Everything is possible , except wooden stove''. Now I see that it's possible too.

Wow that turned out great. I'm a big fan of toys that kids use their imaginations for rather than just have it given to them like TV and electronic toys. The more your grandchildren play with things like this the less they'll play with that other stuff.

Thanks for all the nice comments. My wife put this post on here for me since she's a lot better with a computer than me, and she didn't think to mention that this wasn't my own original design. I saw it on a website called woodenmemories.com, so I can't take full credit for the design, but it sure was fun making it. In response to the question about thickness, I used 1-1/2" pine for the legs, burner top, and stovepipe, and 3/4" pine everywhere else.
