Project Information

I recently posted an assembly table / workbench I built a couple of months ago. One of the reasons I like this particle design is I would be able, with some simply created attachments, to accomplish some useful stuff. One was using the table as a veneer press.
You can see the idea in the pics. I simply milled up 8 pieces of ash, drilled holes in the ends, acquired the appropriate bolts/washers/nuts and voila, a veneer press. I'm currently working on a cigar box with all the external faces containing veneer. This thing has proven quite effective as a veneer press, obviously for flat pieces only. But, at least for the foreseeable future, that's probably all I'll need.

Great! What kind of glue do you use? I use the titebond veneer glue and it bleeds through alot. I usually have to scrape a lot. I love the look of veneer, but pressing it is difficult for me.

wow, great idea. I have made a MFT type workbench with MDF recently, framed with 8020s. and your post gave me another idea to use that table top for veneering. Thanks for sharing. I have only have to acquire appropriate bolts and nuts, in addition to a few Festool clamps I have for that table top.

As a matter of fact Jerry I used Titebond Cold Press Veneer Glue. Haven't noticed the bleed through yet.
