carter stabilizer

I just took off the ball bearing guide rollers on my 14" grizzly band saw, It is a 1994 model, went from cool blocks to ball bearing rollers, now I went to a carter stabilizer, I wish I had done it a long time ago. Can turn almost as short as a scroll saw, the blade never wanders. I am a happy camper now, the small turns are now possible.

Hi chuck.Iis that the bearing with a groove in it that uses no bearings along the side of the blade?
I have a friend that bought one from Carter and he loves it. He says it's for up to 1/4" blades. Sounds like the cats meow!!

I'd love to see it to to see if that is what I saw on Dick's band saw..

thanks, Jim

Why Do YOU Guys Constantly NEED TO KNOW ALL the Little Details ALL The Time?
Just go and BUY The Bleeding Thing!!!

Okay! Okay! You Win!!!! ;-} I'll Help Chuck Out A Little Here. He's a Pretty Decent Guy. OKAY Chuck?

The Pics below from Lee Valley should Help You Out. (Which Way Did You Come In???)

There are 2 "Carter Types" .....One is "A" as below. It's known as the "Standard Stabilizer". It will fit most Brands of 14" Bandsaws.

The Other One "B" is Known as a "Carter Stabilizer" for use with The "Carter Blade Guides".

Both are Intended for 1/4" or Smaller Blades. Both Sell For $79.90 (In Canada. They are Made in the USA).

If you want some Real Bang for your Bucks ($14.90) Or FREE! The other Pic below shows a "Blade, Back Edge. Rounder" Or "Tuning Stone" I used my Bandsaw for about 8 Months before I even saw this Idea.

It contributes to Less Friction & Fatigue on the Blade therefore Longer Blade Life. It allows you to make MUCH Tighter Turns without Leaving "Trailing Edge Marks" on your Wood. It also allows you to "Back Out" Or "Back Up" a little if you need to do so.

I Just used a 4"x1-1/2" Arkansas Stone that I already Had. with some Honing Oil. OR ….You can Buy this one OR …Epoxy a Stone to a Scrap (Nicely Finished Now!) Piece of Wood.

GO TO IT GUYS & GALS!!!

I'm Flabbergasted Chuck! The first part was all a JOKE! See the SMILEY Face? OKAY Chuck?

"Okay! Okay! You Win!!!! ;-} I'll Help Chuck Out A Little Here. He's a Pretty Decent Guy. OKAY Chuck?"

I went to Lee Valleys Site to get all that Info and then had to Reduce it and Clean it up as best I could I spent at least 30 Minutes putting it all together. I THOUGHT I was Helping You Out.

Okay. Sorry you see it that way. I'll get off your Post and take it off My Watch List.

I picked up the Stabilizer at the Woodworking Show…waited way too long to install it and try it out. Once I did I was kicking myself for waiting so long. I just tried my first band sawn boxes from Lois Keener's book (still need to sand and finish) and my 17 year old Ridgid band saw cut like a dream. If you need to make tight curves, even in thick material (like band saw box blanks) get this tool!

"Whats you problem Rick. Chuck"

I'm not the one with the problem. YOU ARE!! You Ungrateful FXXT!!!

Did YOU add Pictures? NO! Did YOU Explain all about them? NO! That there are 2 Different Models? NO! Where you could get them? Or where YOU got yours? NO! The Price? NO!

YOU said YOU took OFF the Ball Bearing Guides. If YOU don't have Carter Blade Guides, YOU Can't use the "Carter Stabilizer". YOU have to use the "Standard Stabilizer".

That's NOT The One YOU said You Installed.

I put the Pictures in everyone was asking for AND a Complete Explanation to Clarify YOUR ERRORS without saying anything about that. I added another Idea for the Benefit of Members who might read your Post

In Return I get a Response from some XXXXX who obviously has NO Sense Of Humor! I also don't really Care how long YOU'VE been on this Site. That Entitles you to Nothing.

YES! The Toys YOU have made are Very Well Done. Possibly The Best Ones On Here.

Have a Nice Day and YOU'RE WELCOME!!

Well rick I you know so much .you might read the directions IT SAYS REMOVE THE TOP BEARINGS AND SLIDE THE BOTTOM ONES OUT OF THE WAY. I have P.M every one who have asked and where I bought it and the cost with shipping. And as for 2 different they list different Models for a lot of different saws Also I did not make any ERRORS. Why don't you show some of your great work instead of running you big mouth. You are now the first person I have ever blocked. HAVE A GREAT DAY.
