Project Information

Hi there.
This is my first presentation of project, so if i made any mistake in it - just say so ;)
The project is about carved logo of Harley Davidson.
From beginnig, what we need:
- wood (i prefer oak wood, it's hard so i can make more precision cuts i have sharp edges of letters)
- chisels
- project in 1:1 scale
Making of:
- plane the wood
- copy the project to wood
- start carving :)
...
When all project is carved, it's time to paint it. I'm using water paints for wood. First, all material is covered in paint, when it's dry, i use a sandpaper to take off paint from some of spaces to have the contrast on it. Next i use a wax for furnitures. That's all. The project is 100cm long and 40cm hieight.

How long did it take you to carve?

First logo of Harley Davidson i was making about one year ago, and it took me 2 weeks. Now, this project took me 2 days + time for planing, waxing, etc. Practice is a great "thing" ;)

That is an awesome carving!!!
How did you transfer the lines from your picture to the wood?

The simplest way it can be done ;) I just cover all project from back side with pencil 6b, then with pen ride on the lines in picture. The graphite from pencil stays on the wood.
