Project Information

Finally getting around to set up my shop and make it more compact and convenient to work in .
Since most of my projects these day are smaller in size I thought to put my router table top on the table saw as an extension and that was the start of this workstation idea .
Started out with a welded steel frame with casters and an MDF top on that ,put on the table saw and build a cabinet for the router table top to have good storage for all the router accessories and the router fence which goes below the table when not in use .
The router table top is also my sanding and assembly area and works well for that since it is covered in plastic laminate ,keeps me from using the table saw as a flat surface when assembling .
The other addition is a vise I have had for years and finally found a good spot for on the side of the router table and this is a handy distance to my hand tools and sanders etc.
I can do my panel sanding on this flat surface also by putting a brace with two dowel into the dog holes and also use the vise in combination with bench dogs .
Also put new cheeks on my table saw fence and built the router fence both with CORIAN type of material .
No T track on this every thing is dovetail track which locks the fence well in place and is a simple item to make yourself .
Just have to install a power bar and dust collection to the router table .
There will be more to come in a way of accessories I am sure but no rush .

Very nice job on all of that my friend.
I like the addition of the vise where you put it, and the addition of the Router and new fence cheeks add to an already nice set up.

Nice workstation and I particularly like the added vice and dog holes.
I have one question though. Why did you make a separate fence for the router?
I have much the same setup on my saw with the router lift mounted on the extended table to the right but my unifence, like your fence, reaches well past the router and makes all the fence I've ever needed.
I know you will have an answer. ....... :)

Well Thanks everyone for your supportive comments .
Looks like this is a good setup and the vise is one of the best solutions I have come up with for my shop as it needs to be compact and all machines need to be easily moved when car space is needed .
There are a few accessories to come and I will post them as they get done .
Paul
The idea of making a separate router fence are first and foremost not to disturb the setting of the table saw fence when using the router at the same time .
I can route a profile for a moulding and then rip it on the table saw and go back and route the next profile without having to reset the fences .
The other reasons are good dust collection setup and a high fence for hold downs and adjustable fence cheeks .

Very nice, I've been wanting to add my router table to my saw table to save shop space only I'd have to put mine on the left side as there's no room for me on the right side of the table.
