Project Information

Getting too creaky to stoop down with a dust pan.

And, I'm too cheap to go buy one after my old one broke! Lol !

So…one shop project cranked out today and a problem solved.
It's all scrap oak, pine & plywood I had laying around, along with an old dowel that was begging to be put to use.
Add a few nails and voila !

Getting it to swivel just right was the trick
A couple of trapped 5/8's dowel in the side braces was just the ticket.

Two coats of stain/poly and all done.

A little Saturday fun in the shop.

(Beats the hell out of the yard work that's piling up….) lol

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Looks like you had a good and productive day and this scoop looks like it will do the job .
A nice back saver and build to last ,the best part is you used what was on hand .

That's a perfect way to spend a Saturday! Nice job. I think I'll make one too.

I really like this. If you keep using all your scrap, there'll be nothing to sweep up.

I don't see dovetails in the swivel.

A perfect opportunity to try some new skills also.

But, a great first try.

Good one Eric. I have two pick em up grabbers in my workshop as well as a heavy duty magnet on a stick. They come in very handy.

Good idea, Eric. How much for post and handling?

Eric, this is much too nice to use for dust… there must be something else that can be done with it!
What a beauty! Simple, elegant and very useful.

This is a beautiful project.

The problem is that I am always in a catch-22. Should I stop what I am doing, creating saw dust, or should should I stop and clean-up.

As I stop and ponder this issue, my wife is called me to dinner and don't bring any saw dust into the house.

I had a simple wooden dustpan I made in a hurry and I used it for years. It disappeared during one of the remodels. Now I have a few plastic ones, but I like your idea. I may steal it some day…................
