Project Information

this piece of quilted maple was about 8 quarter split it on my bandsaw to 3/4 then took it over to my Kapex to do the compound mitre, it is amazing to me how accurate that saw is, and the finish on the cut! Put together with ebony seperaters, the top piece is also ebony, the base is a solid piece of Australian Red Mallee.
The base was attached with mortise and tenon contruction glued with a 2 part apoxy. Finished with 3 coats sanding sealer and 5 coats of waterlox sanding with 1000 grit in between.

That is gorgeous! Your piece turned out great, and I'm very impressed with such a beautiful piece of art! I love quilted maple, but when I have tried to shape it the figure reduces much more than when it is flat. Do you notice any of that?
