« Part 8: Our first outdoor show Part 9 of PortablePastimes series no next part

Looking at my blogs I just realized I never finished out this series from last year. Portable Pastimes had a decent year end with about 5 shows and a handful of Etsy sales. My wife and I both chose a machine to purchase in the new year. I of course went with a new lathe. It was a debate between that and a new table saw, but the old lathe just took up a lot of space in the shop. You can see the progress of that in My ShopQuest 2014 series if interested.

We started this year rather slowly but seem to be picking up a bit, my wife has had several custom orders and I have a few things to work on that I am trying to figure out. We have only done one Spring show and we made just a bit over breaking even, so I’ll consider it a decent show. We did however sign up for a local craft market that we can set up at weekly, monthly, or somewhere in between. I am very much looking forward to this as it will give us a stable presence somewhere that people can find us besides online.

Been busy in the shop working on some new products for the market,

These are some of my handles for magnetic bottle openers.

Started to play around with ice cream scoops.

Still need to work on this as I need to be able to turn the ends down better. Root Beer Float Scoop :)
Don’t know that I will actually sell any of these but was thinking about making a few for the fun of it, who knows someone may like one.

Looking for ideas right now for new displays for magnetic items and a line of turned key chains. I’ll post more as those things happen.

Talk to you all soon.

The identification name on those handles is a cool idea. Small items are sometimes the show saver.Good luck with your sales.

Thanks Guys. I started selling 6” versions of the bottle openers last fall and people liked the sayings on them, even took a few custom requests. So I am hoping these will catch someone’s attention as well.
