So last week I ordered 50 pen kits and cut up so blanks to begin my journey into making pens for fun and maybe profit. Two nights ago I was working on a couple of pens with leftover kits I had and on the second one the lathe did not sound so good. I took it apart last night to find the 28 year old motor drive belt had popped a wire through it.

So I had to order a new belt, decided to go with a V-link Belt. Thanks to Lew for his review and Unionlabel for his suggested supplier in Lew’s review. Website is a little odd but when I called this afternoon to clear things up they were very helpful.

So now I have about a week wait before I get the belt and my new pen kits arrived today. Oh well, hopefully I will finish the other projects I am working one before I get sucked into the pen void :)

Hope everyone has a good weekend in and out of the shop.

It can be frustrating, but just think of all the adventure ahead. And, at least it did not happen at a more critical time. 28 years, maybe it will be another long time before another belt change
