As if things are not wacky enough right now with all the various goings on. My world is going to start to get even more hectic and busy up at work. I have devised a scheme to maybe help my sanity a bit and want to look forward to some guaranteed shop time each Wednesday evening all in the house have basically agreed. So now you know why I am starting this blog. I will not guarantee how energetic or cool it will be but I promise some fun and useful projects and tips along the way. I will more than likely do a lot of small piece turning as I do have some potential for some sales in the next few months, which is good as I don't know if any craft fairs will be happening at this point.
I started this last night and already posted the project I completed. Would have posted it last night but no internet.
I have no idea if I will post everything made during these nights or not but hope to at least document them here. So look forward to any comments and anyone that wants to follow along.
Sorry things are so crazy, but I think the idea of setting aside one evening a week to get a little shop time is a very good one. Hope you can stick with it and crank out some fun stuff!
So after having to be out in the rain last evening bailing out my yard to keep it from leaking into the basement window I really did not have the energy to get into the shop or do much else. Good news is mission was successful.
I was able to get myself into the shop this evening though and continued where I had last left off after the weekend in preparation of a bunch of blanks.
I like to make blanks in larger batches and do all the prep work so when I have a few minutes I can get some pens turned with little fuss. So tonight was all about getting the squaring up done. As well as cutting some other blanks for 7mm projects, I will be drilling and gluing them up this weekend since my order of kits just came in.
In other news a bit on safety in the shop. When is the last time you checked your first aid kit or extinguisher? I happen to just glance at mine the other day an realized it was almost expired.
They last a long time but not forever. Take a look at yours. I was able to pick up a two pack for around $30 well worth the investment.

That's quite a stock of pen blanks. And good reminder about the first aid kit & fire extinguisher. I checked when we moved, and everything is good for at least five years, but it's nice to have a reminder.
Okay, So hasn't been the best start to the week but I did go into the shop after dinner. managed a glue up and finished off the rest of my blanks for some whistles and necklaces. Tomorrow starts early again with meetings and interviews scheduled for literally the entire day starting at 7 AM so I think that is really all I am going to manage tonight.
Not the most exciting blog entry that is for sure. Oh Well. Off to catch up on the rest of goings on here and just veg for the evening. Have a good one.
