Alright- I suppose a little woodworking background is in order. Back in high school I was a shop kid, and divided my time between the wood shops and the metal shop where I got into jewellery making as well.
After high school I didn't get a chance to work with my hands much for many years, but eventually I stopped making excuses and just started doing SOMEthing to satisfy that need inside. Little by little I put together more tools and made more space for myself. At my current home I co-opted the garage, then had to give half of it up to storage (I hear this happens a lot to us married men lol).
Still, I have a decent workshop now, and more tools than my meager skills can properly utilize. I hope to be able to raise my own bar, especially focusing on learning new but old techniques and improving my finish work. I tend to rush and build for function- I'd like to get better at adding beauty to what I create.
Oh, and just to frame things a bit- I'm 34 this year (2013), happily married to a hard working photographer, and we have a b-e-a-utiful baby girl turning 2 this spring.

thanks for the welcome and links. I’m reading over the getting started section and figuring how to update my profile, add pics, et al. Then to more reading- there is a ton of good stuff here!
