Table saw bogging down

I’ve got a Rockwell 12/14 tablesaw. Great saw, but I just swapped out a temporary 5HP motor that was on it to a 7.5 HP. After I made the switch I powered it on to run a test rip on it with some 8/4 stock. And it didn’t make it past 2” before bogging down. Strange for a 7.5hp motor. And thoughts?? Thanks in advance

Did it bog down with the 5 hp? How many belts does it use? Are they new? Sized right for your 7.5 setup? (Adjustable link belts won’t work the same.) Maybe they’re slipping?

Here’s an article that talks a little about how someone else powered his 5 hp with an auxiliary 7 hp as an idler. I don’t know much about motors, but maybe that will give you some insight.

I hope you’ll get some comments from someone who actually knows something. I’ve gotten some really good advice on here to help me through various mechanical difficulties.

Seems like nothing would bog down a 7.5HP . Is there any chance you have the voltage wrong, like 240V 3PH when it wants 480vPH ?
