Was beating around the Internet trying to find information on fixing my Dewalt 735 planer. Lots of great knowledge here and some great people who don’t mind sharing with others. Just had to join up.
My problem with the 735? It’s the rollers. The moment any kind of stock touches them, they stop turning and will not feed the workpiece through, no matter how hard I push (within reason). I’ve taken off the side panels and have changed the belt, so I can see that the belt is turning fine. The chains work properly as well, until the work piece touches the rear roller, then they stop dead. Also, I note that the speed lever at the back of the machine has intermittent problems; sometimes I can switch easily between the two settings, other times it will not move no matter how hard I reef on it (with the machine on). Yes, I’ve done all the usual—waxed up the base and cleaned up the rollers and have changed the blades.
Anybody else ever have this problem? What’s been your experience and, short of taking the whole thing to a Dewalt shop, how did you fix it? What’s wrong with the machine? Would appreciate any and all feedback.

Have your say...
